I did, and I have decided the cat is called Basil.
@puffingwilly.bsky.social came to pick me up from work so that he too could meet the cat.

And I can confirm that stilts are called stilts independently of stilts being called stilts, but both types of stilts are named after a word being long and thin.
This is like when I asked my birdwatcher husband if stilts were named after stilts or if stilts were named after stilts, by analogy with cranes being named after cranes.
To be fair, Hawkeye was named after Hawkeye. But I don't think Hawkeye was named after Hawkeye or Hawkeye.

Dunno why everyone is saying the emergency alert was too verbose, I thought it was very succinct

I can't even explain why but these taste like licking the top of a dusty table that's been polished with Mr Sheen would taste.

Boosting this. This wonderful man is keeping me going, please buy his stuff if you want a nice gift for anyone. Thanks so much x
Hate to do this, but hubby and I have been hit with some incredibly crap news to start 2026 and may shortly be faced with a ton of and upheaval and unexpected expense.

Please consider buying a mug or supporting my website if it's ever been any help to you. It all makes a difference.

Thank you.
Hello! I run two little online shops:

Averaged 2 pasteís de nata per day in Lisbon. That's fine and very normal, right?

Went to a very full-on ramen place tonight and they had a terrifying robot cat delivering food

I can confirm
Hopped over the Tagus on the ferry and ended up at a little naval museum with a 1960s submarine and an 1840s frigate.

Good excuse to use my Patrick O'Brian fanboy knowledge on my long-suffering husband.

Lisbon's a bit nice isn't it?

My husband @uk-tank-markings.co.uk has said some wonderful things to/about me in the 11 years we've been together. Some curated highlights:

"Here, love, you're not...

...a shambling horror"
...a dystopian nightmare"
... incredibly basic and ropey"

I will add more as they are uttered.

Do you think they know what spendthrift means?
The idea that the public sector is inefficient and wasteful, while the private sector is tight and spendthrift, is complete and utter bollocks. This nonsense notion has been ruination of the UK for the past 40 years.

For anyone worried about their GCSE/A-level results, I got straight As and have spectacularly failed to achieve anything notable! Never give up on your dreams!

POV: you're getting targeted adverts not just for Wiltshire Farm Foods, but specifically for the softer pureed meals.

Gay culture is seeing a tweet that says “he ghosted me so I cursed his name under a blood moon and now he works at Greggs” and going “she’s mother for that”

Most of this is nonsense, and the terms are either different, outdated or not Americanisms.
Cupcakes. Movies. Vacations. Younger brits are using more americanisms

It's Too Darn Hot™ today, but it is having the side effect of making the goldfinches who live in the trees outside my window to into overdrive, which is absolutely delightful.

My husband has just asked me what ratio of eggs to yolks to use when making carbonara.

I replied "EGGeggegg".

And somehow, reader, he knew exactly what I meant.
