I found a treasure in my attic: A copy of the 1967 Spring and Summer mail-order catalog from Sears. Sadly I had to find this first photo online as mine was missing the front cover and first dozen pages. But at 1585 pages long, I should have plenty of material to post about for the rest of the year.

Well, that didn’t take long. One day into autumn and I had to get out the long pants and heavy sweatshirt. Also, I see “Christmas Vacation” in the TV guide. Should I be charging the batteries on my snow shovel?

I have had to catch lightning bugs in my living room and put them back outside like two or three times a night every day for the past week. I’m wondering if it is always the same lightning bug. Maybe he just likes watching television.

I made a big dish of cottage pie tonight. It’s perfectly edible, but I wish it tasted a little more like pie and a little less like cottage.

Saw a Waymo car drive through my neighborhood. 😮 I didn’t know we had those here. Couldn’t quite see into it, but I assume it was driverless. Kind of neat. It paused for a few seconds across from my house and then continued down the street. Couldn’t get a photo but I think they all look the same.

It’s not often that I get in the truck to go somewhere and Google Maps tells me “Your route may be interrupted by ’Tornado Watch’” 😳 🌪️

That's a nice surprise, the utility company said three hours to restoration but the power returned after 45 minutes. Maybe they did just flip a switch somewhere. It's nice to have the fans back on and be able to go into the fridge again. Now I get to reset all my clocks. (After I'm sure we're good.)

Well that's great - my electricity cut out as I simultaneously heard a transformer exploding. I don't know how extensive of a repair that is, but I assume it's not as easy as somebody at the power company flipping a switch. Good thing I charged my laptop last night and my phone can be a hotspot.

Oops, the wind shifted and I got a whole bunch more rain inside the house than I expected. Oh well, it’s just water, right? Probably not too good for the books it got on though. 😕

After 3 days of 102° temps, we are finally getting a full-on wrath of Mother Nature thunderstorm. It has already dropped a tree into my next-door neighbor’s yard. 😮 On the plus side, I opened all my windows at the risk of getting a little rain inside & got the house down from 90° to 85° in 30 mins.

After 3 days of 102° temps, we are finally getting a full-on wrath of Mother Nature thunderstorm. It has already dropped a tree into my next-door neighbor’s yard. 😮 On the plus side, I opened all my windows at the risk of getting a little rain inside & got the house down from 90° to 85° in 30 mins.
Even the highways here can’t handle the heat. 🔥

10:30 pm and it is still 88° in my house. 🥵 It finally went down to 87° outside so I guess I can open the door now. Although that might just be letting more humidity inside.

I used my saved collection of movie ticket stubs to add 63 films to my watched movies diary on Letterboxd. The oldest one was from 1999, when I saw “The Blair Witch Project”. Apparently I went to see “The Green Mile” on January 1, 2000, which seems weird but I guess it happened.

I last ate red meat in 2020, poultry in 2021. After 4½ years of pescatarianism, I think I am ready to try and become a full vegetarian. Thank you to this fish (or two) who gave its life for me. I hope you will be the last animal I ever ask to do that.

Yesterday I finished one of my year-long Lyme disease research studies, and today I finished the other. Gave blood at both, so now I have needle marks inside of both elbows. Act quickly if you want to cast me as a down-and-out junkie in your gritty life-on-the-streets drama show.
