Weird that *this* is me coining "stillborn millennium," as it wraps around an idea I've long discussed: that every piece of pre- & peri-millennial possibility, technological hope, or mythic future potentiality was inverted *Right* at its moment of highest vulnerability, & that we've never recovered.
But, again: we live on the other side of that tension & hoped-for hope— the aftermath of the stillborn millennium— w/ surveilant nightmares stranger than strange days' suffused through daily life, & every day it is clearer that those who warned about the collective cop mentality were right all along
