My mom let me buy some paperbacks at TG&Y dept store when I was about 7 years old, which is how I wound up reading this little gem. The cover alone scared the crap outta me, but I’d seen the film being covered in Famous Monsters already & wanted more. I got an Archie comics paperback that day too. 🤣

I was just telling a friend about all the “collectible” DC issues with the numbered cover headings from mid-1976. I probably had most of them at one point!

I found a place on eBay making really nice copies of 80s concert tees. This jersey just arrived (pardon the wrinkles) & it looks great. I saw The Clash 3 days before their last show w/ Mick Jones headlining the US Festival’s Saturday lineup, and watched all the footage from each day on Showtime.

Good guess! I’d estimate around 30 bucks ($3 matinee, $15 ticket, $12 concert shirt that I wish I still had!). It was a brief set of warmup dates before they headlined the US Festival’s “new wave” day…

My sense of accomplishment from viewing these two deeply silly movies on TCM was offset by finding out there were additional doberman films from the same director 😬

I didn’t know about this book until @dlelandwhite.bsky.social mentioned it in passing on a @linoleumcast.bsky.social LKRX Patreon episode the other week. It’s been acquired, read & thoroughly enjoyed now. Vividly funny memoir/essays of adjusting to change & upheaval during the 1999-2000 era. 👏
Not yet, but I’ve been to many of the areas where the endless driving scenes took place! I’ve also attended shows at the El Paso Playhouse (formerly the Festival Theatre) where so much of the cast & crew met - it hasn’t changed much over the past 60+ years!

I watched this 1972 gem last night for the first time, initially unaware that it was a big Coen Brothers favorite. It didn’t take long to see why, though - it’s SO in their wheelhouse! Truly revelatory to me. I can only imagine how thrilled they were to land Paul Newman in The Hudsucker Proxy. 👍
