Donating money to your food pantry is SO MUCH BETTER than donating food- they can get a lot more than you can for what you would spend.

Don’t have money? Donate time! It’s a big help and a great way to meet and support your community.
It costs nothing for you to share this.

For every dollar you donate to your local food pantry you’ll be providing up to 10 meals to families in need this holiday season.

With SNAP/EBT cuts looming I highly recommend downloading this app! Basically restaurants and other food businesses will have available bags of random food they don’t wanna waste for ppl to buy for hella cheap! This has saved me sooooo many times when I only have $5 and need some food.

If AltNPS doesn’t care to mention detainees attempting suicide, they don't care about detainees. Their outrage is manufactured. Their fury is hollow.

As a young man, I lost a loved one to suicide. AltNPS deleting the word for the sake of their metrics disgusts me. I don’t know what else to say.

“ICE gets a bigger budget than the Marine Corps” is a simple fact that should be communicated very widely because it clearly expresses how crazy and radical this is
With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

I was just explaining why I found Rick Steves work so impressive and encouraging, and my kid walking by goes "Are you talking about the pope?"

Nope, but we should be so lucky. He leads from a place of kindness, and I'm grateful.
In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.

Join Rick as he explores the most surprising and fascinating land he's ever visited: Iran. In a one-hour, ground-breaking travel special on public television, you'll discover the splendid monuments of...

I was surprised to find most of the "raw milk cures ___" talking points from the last 20+ years come from one (1) raw milk dairy farmer in California.

Let's get to know him!

Tomorrow, a certain online mega-retailer launches a book sale, just days before Indie Bookstore Day on 4/26. This is no coincidence; Bookstore Day is one of the largest revenue drivers for indies.

Indies need our support to thrive & build community spaces for all...mega-retailers do not.

I think we need to talk more about moral injury. When we betray our own moral code it is intolerable, so we have to find ways to live with the dissonance-until we can’t. There are people who have crossed lines they never believed they would already. They need a path back to their moral code.

As predicted, women in New Hampshire had a hard time voting yesterday because of the new proof of citizenship law:

“It doesn’t have my married name on it,” she said. Town voting officials then sent her away a second time, to get her marriage certificate.

NH’s new ID requirements send some would-be voters home to grab passports, birth certificates
The law requires all new voters to show proof of their U.S. citizenship. For some, that meant making multiple trips to and from the polls before finally casting a ballot on Tuesday.
