Cut It Out
Paper, clipper and razor blades, and acrylic on canvas
I cut my own hair and shave with safety razors, the most economical option. I never know whether I'm practicing a noble asceticism or treating myself as though I have no value. I made Cut It Out to explore this ambivalence.

Community Trash 27

2026

Mixed media art waste (acrylic, paper, beads) on canvas

For number 27 I did something I very rarely do: add text. Specifically, spelling out snippets of phrases that repeat in my head when I'm anxious. #relatable?

I've been rereading old journal entries. November 2009 (had just turned 14):
"I wore my starfleet uniform made out of long underwear. my mom was like 'you're gonna be so embarrassed don't go out in that' and my dad was like 'OH COOL A STARFLEET UNIFORM AWESOME'"

i think double digits might be unlikely, but it would result in a pretty incredible clusterfuck of digital signs which aren't built for them
i think it's just the Expensive gas stations that are doing this right now but some chance that pretty soon it won't be

i don't think i've ever seen an 8 on a gas price sign before and for damn sure i haven't seen double digits

The year is 2027. McDonald's AI kiosk won't take my card until I decline a $1.99 protection plan on the happy meal toy. In a moment of weakness, I decide to pay for my 10 chicken nuggets over time with Klarna.

me: "okay. first question: how do lawyers work?"
source: "um... well, what kind of lawyer are we talking about"
me: *writing down enthusiastically* there are types of lawyers

Ashley continues to organize for Minnesotans and this is one more way you can help, if you're a frequent flyer.

And: it's fucking bleak that we have to crowdfund flights for law-abiding people who have been abducted by ICE, taken to another state, released, and given NO help to get home.
a woman reached out to donate 500,000 delta skymiles to get people home to MN as they are released from custody in TX.

we're getting flights booked today. it should be enough to get at least 15 people home.

delta should be doing for free since they take ICE money.

New rule. Journalists aren't allowed to post puff pieces about impossible work and fitness schedules without asking stuff like "who does your laundry? Who cooks your steak and eggs? How does your dusting get done if you're out on a long run?"

Disco Objects (Compulsion), 2025

Origami paper, papier-mache, acrylic, and mirror tile

Modular origami and ‘disco objects’ (unconventionally shaped objects with reflective finishes) have long been two of my less serious creative hobbies. Every winter since I was a child, I’ve found myself (cont'd)

I need my cyberpunk back-alley surgeon called Stryker to have named herself after Susan
"Body mods as easily obtainable as getting your ears pierced at Claries" would also have been neat. Like get your body mods from someone named Stryker around back of the corner noodle store, then go out into the neon apocalypse to like, idk be a detective who smokes dial-up noises.
