@standupforscience.net makes it easy to stand up for science! We all must join the fight to make sure the scientific infrastructure that has improved all of our lives survives! If not for yourself, do it for your children and your children’s children. Losing ground in science means losing lives.
Still working on my public comment but this @standupforscience.net tool made it really easy for me to contact my members of Congress about the Voght rule to destroy the scientific enterprise: fight2win.standupforscience.net?utm_source=o...

Congratulations to @cdelawalla.bsky.social who is one of the bravest people I know. As a graduate student she did not stand by but proactively stood up and founded @standupforscience.net and has been a champion for us all. We have a lot to learn from this remarkable young scientist.
Kudos to @cdelawalla.bsky.social for being 1 of just 5 ‘young scientists’ profiled as ‘on the radar’ in this @sciam.bsky.social piece.

I just love Cory Booker. Listen to his response to this vile racism. We must stand up and stand strong together.

So-called “soft skills” include knowing how to ask a question, figure out how to answer it, gather the appropriate sources, analyze the information and decide on a viable answer and plan, almost always in collaboration with others. This is the heart of a liberal arts education, whatever your major.
"Learn to code" was always bad advice, unless you actually like to code. College students have the best chance of professional success if they major in topics that interest them. Today in @startribune.com. Please tell high school students and parents.

Opinion: College students, go ahead and major in what you love
"The lesson here is simple: Major in what you love, not what you think will get you a job," David M. Perry writes.

A brilliant account of just a few things scientific research has accomplished through federal funding to make all our lives better! @standupforscience.bsky.social
🧵ICYMI: Trump is going after the National Science Foundation (NSF) budget, slashing it by $5.1 billion—about 57%. This is the largest single-year cut in the agency’s history and would affect nearly every aspect of NSF’s operations, from research grants to education & workforce development programs.

Books speak to our individual and collective humanity. When we ban books we ban our true selves.
I don’t remember ever not being able to read. Books have always been part of my identity.

And somehow, that moment when I find a book that I know is just meant for me, continues to be astonishing every damn time.
