this is why you have to fight the idea that art is "escapism" or "content" or whatever word implies that it doesn't matter what it is so long as something exists in that shape.
I don't think enough art type people appreciate how widespread the idea that entertainment is something to solely Fill The Time and that it has no intrinsic value beyond that. They don't care, they've never cared and convincing them that anything other than "sounds pleasant" matters is pointless.

i've been saying, one path forward for the mid-budget games industry is just... going and making expansions to popular old games. there's a market here. bring back the era of outsourced expansion packs. i'm so serious.
