The court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes in Gaza, but has not indicted or issued warrants for any American. Kenneth Roth, former head of Human Rights Watch, said Rubio’s “slick rhetoric” masked a bid to let Trump “commit war crimes with impunity,” including on the soil of ICC member states, undercutting a court meant to deliver justice regardless of a perpetrator’s power. Secretary Marco Rubio @SecRubio The International Criminal Court seeks to become the unaccountable arbiter of a new global law — empowered to prosecute and arrest our citizens at will and existentially threaten American sovereignty.
