Enjoying the for-now quiet morning with my cup of coffee, sitting on the observation deck of the Rusty Elk Lodge, here at Camp Rudy. I was joined by this doe, both of us still recovering from a night of bombs bursting in air and rocket's red glare. I should have left the ramparts up.

Enjoying the for-now quiet morning with my cup of coffee, sitting on the observation deck of the Rusty Elk Lodge, here at Camp Rudy. I was joined by this doe, both of us still recovering from a night of bombs bursting in air and rocket's red glare. I should have left the ramparts up.
Two fawns resting in the Camp Rudy ivy bed this morning. I hadn't seen them in weeks and feared they might not have made it. But they looked healthy (and disturbed that someone was photographing them).

From Costa Rica last year. I had it ID'd as an Amazonian Plain-Xenops but I'm now told it is a Northern Plain-Xenops. That sounds right. My apologies. #birds
