My dad was a public school teacher; and he always said the toughest parts of the job were:

1. Having to pay for your own classroom chalk, and
2. Performing gender-reassignment surgeries during class hours w/out parents finding out.

One way you know Dolly Parton lived life the right way: I don’t think anyone’s going to get fired for accurately quoting Dolly Parton today.

Their lovely tribute to Lindsey Graham is why I unsubscribed from @crooked.com 's What A Day podcast. Considering unsubbing from @strictscrutiny.bsky.social , too. It's not the first bad take I've seen from Crooked Media.

Lettuce: "I'm going to give you explosive diarrhea!"

Maridee Bonadea was killed because we value convenient parking more than the safety of people on bikes.

When was the last time someone died because parking was not available next to their home?

We need to stop debating convenience vs safety. Safety comes first, on every single street.
The city could take emergency action and sign the uphill side of this street no-parking TODAY, or we can do 3 years of outreach and foot-dragging while we wait for the blood spilled to be enough to placate the "process".

@seattledot.bsky.social @mayorofseattle.bsky.social the ball's in your court.

I was all set to join the army, but I showed up early to meet my recruiter. Navy office was next door. Those pictures of ships in the ocean got me. Joined the Navy, met my ex, got pregnant, and have an excellent career because I was early.

Plot twist: never served on a ship, or even on a Navy base.
What happened to you that changed the entire trajectory of your life?
