Important to point out: if it wasn't for Amy Klobuchar standing up and pushing back, Republican Chuck Grassley would've just let the BULLSHIT go by without question, and Schmidt's Kabuki sound bit would be all over Trump controlled media.

To summarize: the U.S. is not a broke household one missed paycheck from ruin! It's the wealthiest society in human history, one that has funneled an ever-larger share of its gains to the top and then told itself it can't afford to invest in everyone else.

Taxing income was unconstitutional until it wasn't. The 16th Amdt didn't magically appear. It was the product of recognizing a gap in our policymaking and building public support for closing that gap. Publicizing potential solutions to major problems is the first step.

Donald Trump and his MAGA thugs don’t own this country. They don’t own the flag or symbols of patriotism. They don’t even believe in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution or democracy. We do. We regular Americans who still believe. And that’s something to celebrate.

Yes, his regime controls the state, which he won—just as Hitler did—thru mostly legal means. And yes, the far-right controls a mass propaganda machine—just like the Nazis did—to manipulate public opinion (Trump’s approval rating may never sink below 30% because of that propaganda machine)
