It’s time for a COVER REVEAL! ✨ I had the honor of illustrating Onward, We Marched, writer Erica Martin’s debut picture book with Penguin Kids. Here’s the official summary:

Wild to finish a book that IMO is a MASTERPIECE, only to get online and read reviews that are like “meh” and “kinda boring”. Shows that you really gotta write for your people and forget everyone else! Haters gonna hate but lovers gonna love 🥰

The "fantasy has to have rules" thinking just... generally bores me. I get where it's coming from! But I am bored. I don't want to read it. I don't want to write it. I want worlds and magic with chaos and surprise and a total absence of reliability. And also people occasionally getting electrocuted.

West Africans practiced smallpox inoculation long before Europeans had ever heard of it, and brought the knowledge with them to the Americas via the Atlantic slave trade. Historian Elise Mitchell examines how these stories were “forgotten” amid the hardening of racial ideologies in the 19th century
The world has spent centuries forgetting the African history of immunisation
Historian Dr Elise Mitchell re-examines the early history of smallpox inoculation on both ends of the Atlantic slave trade.

Nobody fucking believes Zionists when they say criticism of Israel or opposition to it is antisemitic anymore. They wore that one out. We all can see that massacring every Palestinian in sight & expanding genocide regionally has nothing to do with Judaism. Including many anti Zionist Jews worldwide.

Y'all, if you never had the chance to support my debut novel, this is it. And gosh, whatever have you been waiting for? It's that hot fire. It got the juice. A young man exiled from New Orleans by Katrina's journey home across the south possessed by the spirit his foster mother gave him as a hex.

No matter whether you're intending to publish the piece or not, you gotta stop writing for your Very Worst And Most Horriblest Readers. Are they out there? Yes! Will they read your book? Probably! Do you have to give a shit? You do NOT.

Somehow the library got like six of my holds in on the same day and now I don’t have enough time to read them all before they’re due. So I need help choosing between the one about hot lesbians and the one about… something else. Nevermind. I answered my own question.

Prison abolition is a generational project. We're not throwing open the prison doors and calling it a day. We're fundamentally reconstructing society around care and solidarity and replacing prisons with structures built on restorative justice.

It's not one bill or one measure.

I've talked about the Sameer Project before—an excellent life-saving on-the-ground initiative in Gaza. Since April 2024, they've distributed nearly a quarter of a million meals alone (plus water, medical care, and shelter). But funding has dropped so much that they'll have to shut down without help.

This story you keep hearing about Jews abandoning the Democratic party or moving rightwards in droves? That's a lie. It's right wing propaganda. The data simply doesn't show it. If anything, Jews under 40 in the US are the most progressive generation of Jews *ever*.

I simply don't think weapons manufacturers should be allowed to profit from genocide or war crimes.

And I certainly don't think they should be allowed to lobby lawmakers to go to war to find a use for their weapons.
