Pakistan's mid sized music industry has always been brilliant, despite suffering losses post Partition when much of the film fraternity shifted to Bombay. But something changed enroute with Noorani, Hassan & Roshaan, and Coke Studio S 15. With Bewajah, we are seeing a seismic shift in language.

A few weeks ago, I was listening to a podcast wherein the interviewer mentioned that people were already swearing at the entity that helms India by force. These last few days, we have seen the colourful language now become open (beautifully so).

I dislike doomerism entirely, really. There are solid alternatives, but people want to continue thinking in neoliberal ways, romanticising post-apocalyptic futures and would rather think annihilation of the planet is an inevitability, but not annihilation of capitalism or colonialism. Thoo.
