Spring: Pheasant Friend started sounding like a rusty clock at 6 a.m. And while I appreciate that he has Important Large Chicken Things To Do all day long and needs his pheasant pellets to keep his strength up … erk... So. I’m awake now.
It’s shaping up to be a lovely day today and Pheasant Friend wanted to be sure I didn’t miss any of it.

Happy #caturday . And #Pheasant Day also, for those of you who celebrate.

The Aliens on Earth are getting meaner. Smith talks at Seiko, and Seiko doesn’t like it. Smith might be right, of course, but that doesn’t mean Seiko has to like it.

In wild #pheasant -related news, I’ve determined that yes, Pheasant Friend & his son are two different birds, & yes, they’re both still alive (yay).

Pheasant Friend is bigger & rounder & has a more battered tail, after last year’s hatching + hawk season.

The tail is better now, but this is it:
Pheasant Friend with his battered tail after last year’s hatching + hawk season. It’s mostly better now, in a slightly droopy way.

I’ve been trying to get my garden in, around NZ’s Spring winds. So far I’ve reset the cosmos bed, asparagus beds, & the main vege square. I’ve also done the first big mowing-oof-& fattened up the wild pheasants. I’m trying to decide if I have one male bird, or two-maybe father & son?

A #DragQueen friend of mine ‘did’ #Dolly & followed her on tour. Her security team lifted him onstage 7 times. It was a small joyous kindness from her & a lifetime of pride for him.

I’d like to think they’ll be pleased to see each other again.

Currently re-watching the Jurassic Park series. Summary: with almost no women left on Earth by the timeline of this story, men lose their bearings, get silly & make #dinosaurs , then waste time mansplaining to each other instead of fixing things. Too bad the women were gone (or so it appears???)

Just watched Dragon Wars. Giant snake-dragon-dinos, flying dragon-dinos, lumbering, (and weirdly gelatinous) tank-dinos. Gratuitous cultural appropriation & a useless heroine, but the pretty boy and girl made it through to the end. Sort of. I’ll give it a 3/10.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we learned New Zealand Officially Probably Has Bird Flu. Meanwhile, big windy storms ensued. So the birds have all taken cover, and aren’t around much. Which is usual. But now I’m LISTENING. I haven’t seen Pheasant Friend all week, but I heard him today. So, phew.

A story of two cats:
When Harriett (the black cat) is sitting here, she looks like she’s posing for her glamour shot.
When Izzie (gray & white) is in the same spot, she looks like she’s plotting revenge.

My black cat Harriett on top of a cabinet, looking very glamorous. My gray & white cat Izzie on top of a cabinet looking vengeful. And like she keeps eating Harriett’s food. Which she does.

The farm next door is moving cattle from one place to another, so Pheasant Friend is spending today just hanging out in my yard, out in the open. He really doesn’t look very happy about it, though.
Also, happy #solstice. It’s a very wet, gray day at my house.
The neighbors keep slowing down as they’re driving past-I think this might be why… there’s a big wet pheasant on my fence.
