one of the most personally depressing things for me in the past 5 years was when we opened the historian role and got literally hundreds of applications from fascinating, qualified scholars who were worried about US higher ed. I could have created an entire liberal arts college if I had the money.

Anyway armchair philosophy time but I kind of get the impression oldheads like Spielburg and Scorsese embracing AI while new vibrant talent like Pasrons wholeheartedly rejects it is a really good example of how prolonged, consistent prestige is inherently damaging to good craftsmanship

My gaming take for the night:
Video games are good but the chase for visual fidelity has dealt a massive blow to the health of the industry
So many amazing games remain unplayed by many because the standards for graphics is so high (for the majority)
Seeing retro games as ugly=bad is a mistake
