why can we never just have housing. why does every single fucking development in this god damned giant city have to get snipped at and corner cut to appease nobody but random thumb-twiddling municipal paycheck-cashers and unemployed retirees.
The Shops at Six Corners will include 251 residential units, 90 fewer units than Chicago City Council approved. The reduction was approved internally through an administrative adjustment... instead of requiring a public hearing and a zoning ordinance revision. nadignewspapers.com/construction...

When will the people who argued in April 2025 that Democrats should stay silent on immigration own up to being frankly just disastrously wrong about the politics of mass deportations? Their punditry basically bordered on enablement

I asked AT&T Stadium about the Rolling Stone report about how they objected to Macklemore coming to Arlington next month. They didn't comment, but as I've noted they're still hosting Kanye West in November: www.chron.com/culture/arti...

In 2016 people revolted against North Carolina bathroom bill. 10 years later and the country is up in arms over 15 athletes and there are Democrats who are insisting that this is a real concern. It is not. I won't pretend that it is. I won't say nice things about people who are pretending that it is

Best editorial I’ve seen all year from the Chicago Tribune yesterday.

It’s undeniable that local communities have historically been excluded from consequential decisions, but the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.

We now live in an era defined by weaponized resistance to change.

It’s very surreal seeing social media algorithms suddenly start pushing German-language AfD content while in Germany

4 of the first 5 reels on my Facebook are just AfD posts, plus one random Star Trek reel (I’ve never engaged with AfD content other than checking their FB page for event info)

Sorry to be a hater but the fact you need to wake up super early on a Sunday (and pay a fee) to enjoy a car-free DLSD is a sick joke. If you get there at 9, you have 90 minutes before rolling closures begin. G-d forbid drivers are inconvenienced.

ATA has been content with scraps for 25 years.

Customs and Border Protection claimed that construction on a border security project in Texas was limited to “survey and design” work. The New York Times tracked the activity and found evidence of patrol roads and vehicle barriers already being built. Watch our visual investigation. nyti.ms/46JAhUc

If El-Sayed crushes Stevens tonight, as seems likely, it would be nice if we could finally do away with this notion that AIPAC can single-handedly buy elections. If anything, this race shows how much their influence has diminished inside the party over the past few years. Good riddance, too.

It is worth hearing that discontent and taking it seriously, but it is a mistake to try to derive information about the actual economy -- like, flow-of-money stuff, as measured by conventional metrics -- from that discontent.

I despise this “vat grown human politician is bad” & “the people want chuds” thing going on currently. I definitely want my nation’s politicians to be highly-competent, intelligent, experienced, and with an acceptable/clean background. Politics is hard & candidates should be up to the task.
