This Matariki I’m sparing a thought for Dr Rangi Matamua, expert and educator who wrote a song to teach his mokopuna about Matariki, which was included in a special Matariki episode of Pipi Mā, only for the Macarena Matariki ear-worm to be taught in pre-schools across the motu… 😬

Yeah surely at some point we can stop calling it an “AI boom” and call it an “AI thumbs down with fart noise”
It's a certainty that I'm missing a whole lot, but the whole "AI boom" comes down to gullible obnoxiously rich people who love new bright shiny things only slightly more than they hate everyone who has to work for a living.

Yes? No? Definitely maybe?

No we’re not running out of good ideas. We’re running out of people willing and able to invest in good ideas.

America, you have spoken loud and clear: You do not like AI. But what if AI is the way to restart the world’s idea machine?
We’re running out of good ideas. AI might be how we find new ones.
What if the best use of AI is restarting the world’s idea machine?

Take it from someone with an objective viewpoint (not in the US) - if an actual lefty wins anything in the US it’s downright historic (traditionally the Dems are about as lefty as our centre-right party, so…)
The New York Times quickly sending out Douthat to argue that Mamdani’s victory doesn’t really matter is so predictable it borders on self-parody.

Remember, folks: Every time the Right wins an election, it’s an undeniable expression of the will of the people. If a lefty wins, it’s just a blip.
