This was before the route 8 bus lanes, so my choices were either walking up-hill from the Capitol Hill Link station to Kaiser, doubling (or more) the amount of time to get to the appointment, or biking. I suppose I could have Uber'd but I didn't want to break my lifetime never-Uber'd achievement...

I wish drivers had the same mentality as responsible gun owners - a car is a weapon, and rolling at speed towards an unprotected person is no different than pointing a gun at them.

I'm really glad to see the best brains at SDOT and WSDOT have reduced my chance of dying from 100% to 50%. I am grateful, though how much longer will it take them to make those crossings actually safe?

Everyone involved in planning and permitting construction projects should be required to walk and roll through them at least once. Of course, the city attorneys might require an insurance waiver...

Fortunately Ballard continues to be safe from all Link disruptions for the foreseeable future.

Or, even better, Sound Transit could just keep the old 522 routing, where it serves one dense neighborhood and ends in another with the same Link connections available, rather than in a freeway wasteland. Only problem is politics. As a bonus, LCW would get BRT service!

The closest safe crossing is 1000' away. What would it take for KC Parks, KC Metro, and WSDOT to put their heads together and put a spur from the trail to the bus stop? It doesn't solve the stop on the other side but at least makes one side accessible. @kingcountymetro.bsky.social @wsdot.wa.gov
