Media coverage was incredibly irresponsible but I hate the use of active voice here. Not only is it assuming something we can’t just know, it fundamentally ignores the degree to which his problems were self-created (all while we’re in a time of rampant fraud, corruption, and impunity).

Media coverage was incredibly irresponsible but I hate the use of active voice here. Not only is it assuming something we can’t just know, it fundamentally ignores the degree to which his problems were self-created (all while we’re in a time of rampant fraud, corruption, and impunity).
We need to just start calling the idea that diversity and inclusion applies to viewpoints inherently racist/sexist/homophobic, etc. Fundamentally a false equivalency that’s offensive.
Speaking for the first time since ralliers began assembling in support of her stance against transgender participation in women’s sports, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham said this was an opportunity for the WNBA to uphold its values of diversity and inclusion.

This is a good impulse but conspiracies do exist and if you don’t acknowledge that in circumstances where it’s justified you just become untrustworthy in a different way
I’m actually willing to take this a step further - the goals of progressive politics and good governance are founded in high trust, and by extension the Democratic Party has to be the high trust party. You don’t achieve any of our goals with conspiratorial thinking because its inherently reactionary

for my money the greatest depiction of leftism in an American film is 'Matewan' by John Sayles, a man who had to abandon the Hollywood studio system to make it

I understand why (it’s the hookiest element) but they should really not have centered the marketing etc. around the standup which is not really what the movie is about and something he doesn’t meaningfully succeed at, because it’s why people get hung up on things like this

I think there’s a lot of bullshit outdated advice out there but leveraging personal connections has always been good advice and if anything that seems more true now when a lot of applications are going to go into a bottomless pit

Honestly there’s a clear lack of official leadership in the party right now, this seems the best way to establish an unofficial leader
Also this negates the “this person shouldn’t be running” argument; the person is doing good separate from the potential political benefits

Are you old enough to remember “Pop-up Videos”? It was a TV show that played music videos and had “info nuggets” pop up on the screen with interesting trivia. TV could do that with political speeches to fact-check liars in real time, within seconds of their lies. 2/6 🧵

Disappointing the Independent Spirit Awards just went to the same things as everywhere else, really would have been nice to shine a brighter light on movies like I Saw the TV Glow and Nickel Boys.
