Absolutely heartening experience in Belfast today: I was walking through a park I spotted a young woman wearing a mask, a black surgical. As I often do, I offered her an FFP2 - she said she was wearing a mask because she was sick. She thanked me, and I thanked her for masking.

Key facts
#LongCovid is an heterogeneous disease entity.
Case definition for LC must acknowledge heterogeneity.
When you design clinical trials you can select the best possible sample for the study you plan.
But heterogeneity must be acknowledged, especially in clinical practice.

The fact that the President of the United States suggests Iran should nuke Los Angeles and San Diego and we’re supposed to pretend it’s perfectly normal, everyday stuff shows exactly what is terribly wrong with today’s political mainstream media.

The sitting president of the United States just stood before a “crowd” of his supporters & suggested Iran “take out” two American cities, adding that it would be a “small price to pay”, and somehow that’s not the lead story on every newscast this morning.

Not even in the top 5.

This is obviously a worrying development, especially considering the fact that air travel was involved.

I am considerably more concerned by the ongoing outbreak of Ebola in this region than I am by current events in Russia.

Worth remembering where things stand today:

Jair Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year prison sentence and is barred from Brazil’s 2026 presidential election.

That’s not rhetoric. That’s the current reality. 🇧🇷
Lula: “When Trump came to defend Bolsonaro, I told him: "Trump, if you were Brazilian and what happened in the United States had happened here, you would have been arrested too. You would have been arrested. You can be certain of that."”

A friend has Covid right now. They have lost their sense of smell and they're having cognitive problems.

This hit me today, as it often does: we made, and continue to make, a huge collective mistake in allowing a virus that impacts the brain to transmit unmitigated globally.

#LongCovid is not a neuroimmune disorder. It's a multi-system disease entity with damage well documented in situ across multiple organs and tissues. Neurological and immune manifestations are important, but so is pathology affecting other body systems. Patient care for all is key

A few scientific facts.
Covid is a multi-system disease with sequelae in all organs.
SARS-CoV-2 didn't not disappear; actually a new variant is on the rise in multiple countries (PJ.2.1). It's not endemic.
SARS-CoV-2 is airborne, namely it can spread and linger in the air a bit like cigarette smoke.
