Im the pogressive, pagan, vegan, TTRP gamer, music loving, fan boy, horror geek, bookworm your parents warned you about. He/ Him
First, the bad: let's rip that band-aid off. It pulls way too much at times from other books, such as The Name of the Wind and The Vampire Empire. With that said, this book stands alone when it comes to plot and character development. Its a dark grim-dark and i did enjoy it

Had some left over pumpkin from last night's dinner and some streusel topping from last week so I made a Pumpking Coffee cake this morning. It is so good on this perfect Autumnish morning.

🍂 Autumnish food is still the best food! Pumpkin Gnocchi in a savory brown vegan butter and garlic sauce. It was so damn good 🍂

Upon the Forge of Battle (Book 3 of the Age of Wrath trilogy) is a gripping, Norse-inspired story that will not disappoint. This book is a great example of how to end a trilogy.
Highly recommend

Finally just about settled into the new place with a much larger kitchen. I christened it by making Apple Pie Muffins with a Streusel topping. They are so damn good and came out exactly how I had it im my head this morning.

I really enjoyed this book. Snake Eater is a quintessential cozy horror/ dark fantasy that will chill your blood in one chapter, then warm your heart with its found-family theme in the next. The characters are very well fleshed out, especially Grandma Billy. A quick easy 4 star read.

This book has completely and utterly blown me away. Slewfoot is a historical, dark fantasy horror. Drawing on elements of the Scarlet Letter, The Handmaids Tale, and Carry it is a must read for horror fans.

When you have never really worked with puff pastry and you forget to poke hole in your vegan Pumpkin Pop-Tarts they come out thick. People, this is how I learned cooke. For all the amazing foods I have made that come out picture perfect their is probably 20 early attempts that failed.

If you are looking for an incredible horror novel this spooky season then this is your book. Extremely well written with scenes that will definitely haunt you after you finish reading.

This was an unbelievable example of excellent story telling. A long slow but gripping tale that continues from the first book, The Name of the Wind. The prose in this book is some of the best I have read in fantasy and it just keeps you hooked.

Yes, even in the middle of packing stuff up for the big move in a couple of weeks I still magically found time to use up some of this huge zucchini I was gifted. Fresh Zucchini Bread this morning and drying the rest out for zucchini fritters later this week.

This book is markets as Young Adult but it is so much more. It is incredibly dark at times. The characters are extremely complex and morally gray. They have their faults as well as their strengths. I could not put it down.

Brennan Morton has created such a fun series I didn't want it to end. The Pendulum Series is a 4 book arc starting with The Company of Bones, Song of the Forest, The Nameless and Rat Catchers. Each book is told from multiple times with the past times focusing on one member of the Company of Bones.

Got my first shipment from @ThriveMarket and they had some young green jackfruit on sale. I had to make my pulled jackfruit ( very similar to pulled pork) The bread is a sour dough from a local bakery and it is magnificent! Very happy with the way this came out.

If you are looking for a great high seas adventure then this is exactly the story you want! Blackshaw expands on the first book wonderfully and you can really see the growth in the main character, Jacob. The narrative pulls you in tight and doesnt let go. Highly recommend this whole series.

This was truely like finding a diamond in the rough. While a little cliche heavy, never forget the reason cliches become such is because they work. They strike a chord in us that vibrates beautifully. That is what this story did. It hit every chord imaginable! Highly recommend

This was a gripping and deep dive into trauma, horror, and the love between a father and son. Part crime novel, part paranormal horror. The pacing is the only thing that became a draw back to it. The charaters are very well written and the twist is pretty well hidden. RECOMMEND!

This book has probably one of most unique premises for a horror novel. While 90% of this will leave you guessing at what is really going on it never drivers the reader away. Dealing with 2 separate time lines and stories that collide in a frightening and beautiful way.
