In 2009 Labour ended up with their lowest count of 4446 local councillors. This year Labour have 4630.
The previous Conservatives councillor minimum was 4276. This year Conservatives got 3855. ! And Badenoch was joyous !

It's not pure media concoction, but whilst the concerns on performance may have been playing out in the cognoscenti, the media has whipped segments of the less informed public into a visceral hatred of Starmer that they can't explain, and was a key factor in the local elections which pushed this on
