🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time

It's an out-and-out lie

But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀

*They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻

In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄

Chris Mason's piece on the BBC 6 O'Clock added precisely nothing of information value, other than we learned he had dashed from a press conference, and presumably not had time to ring Robbie Gibb or Farage yet to find out what he is supposed to say.

If I were CEO of the local electric, gas and water companies I'd be very tempted to cut #Piddington off from the rest of the UK. Purely to express solidarity with their desires obvs. Oh, and maybe the UK 999 service as well.

Loathe to say it but #bbclaurak actually doing a decent job on Farage. No doubt back to tummy tickling next week.
But.... she doesn't call out the lie about police advice

Farage floundering, oops family trust, sorry business, er Singapore, I wasn't listening, err what's my story again here. Bent as a nine bob bit. #bbclaurak

#jeremyvine and #bbclaurak on the same programme, the BBC rightwing pundits out in force today

Chris Mason close to tears.."this was supposed to be Nigel's big day and some rotters have spoiled it.. it's not fair mum!!"

Chris Mason trying to spin the Reform "problems" as just increased scrutiny, not deep embedded crookedness... His tongue is so firmly wedged

Kudos to the #BBC for Joe Pike's tenacious nterview with Jenrick.
"Never mind the quality, feel the width" seems to be Reform's main defence of their welfare proposals
If Chris Mason had been given the interview it would no doubt have been complete sycophancy.

Chris Mason claims that Restore are "chipping away at Reforms momentum.." so that would be the momentum that's seen their ratings on a declining trend since last October would it Chris?
Good to see his holiday hasn't blunted his searing insight.

Someone at the @dailytelegraph.bsky.social has a serious hatewank problem with Angela. I suppose their ancestors just took it out on the scullery maids.

BBC News - Chris Mason: Farage attempts to seize back the agenda after finance row
www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

What a shame for Chris Mason that all the main parties have seized the agenda back, rolled it up and shoved it up Farage's proverbial before setting light to it.
Binface for the win
Chris Mason: Farage attempts to seize back the agenda after finance row
His aim throughout the forthcoming campaign is to clearly frame this by-election as "the people versus the establishment".

Someone just go and shout "Jo Cox and David Amess" in his smug frog face. #farage
July 7, 2026 at 1:20 PM
The fact that Julia Hartley-Brewer last week, and Camilla Tomilly today, have held Reform's feet to the fire over Farage's funding more effectively than the BBC's flagship politics show, should be a cause of mortal shame to both #bbclaurak and the #BBC organisation as a whole.

Main thoughts on the @hzeffman.bsky.social interview with Starmer are
1. At least it wasn't Chris Mason; and
2. Zeffman has very nerdy feet

What do these pundits expect from a speech.. a facts and figures lecture which they would have moaned about for being dull?
This was a vision speech, and should be judged as such.
As a curmudgeonly old sod, I'm almost hopeful.

Christ almighty, Chris Mason really can't keep the sneer out of his voice, even cutting in Badenoch as if she were reacting to, rather than preempting, Burnham's speech.... and the thought that we would learn more from a Chris Mason insult dressed up as a question afterwards is laughable.

Oh come on Victoria. Burnham has said he will make a number of speeches on policy, over next weeks - we don't know his approach yet, but give him a chance to set out his stall.

Much as I think there is just cause here, it has a feeling of setting an elephant trap for Burnham in much the same way waspi women was for Starmer. The guys not PM yet and the BBC is looking for swords to dangle over his head. Where has this issue been till now?

Badenoch reminds me of the line from Evita:
"Things have reached a pretty pass, when someone pretty lower class...graceless and vulgar, uninspired, can be respected and admired "
Although I'm not sure how much respect there actually is for her
