There aren’t enough words to describe how happy I am that a politician put together a plan for Black communities that does not start with criminal justice reform.
I'm proud to announce my policy agenda to empower Michigan’s Black communities.
For generations, Black communities in Michigan have received promises of federal investment that never fully arrived, or arrived without any way to track whether it actually improved people's lives.

The “rally around the flag” effect that people remember fondly after 9/11 wasn’t positive for EVERYONE. A lot of people used that flag to tell people that they didn’t belong.
One thing that makes me profoundly sad when I think about 9/11:
We largely saw the best of America for a while after the towers fell. The “rally around the flag” effect was real.

Jon Stewart hit the nail on the head. For decades, politicians used 9/11 heroes as photo-ops, only to turn their backs when those same first responders needed healthcare for toxins that destroyed their bodies. Basic human decency shouldn't require a public shaming campaign!
