It feels like 90% of the "Men Left Behind" arguments boil down to "We used to have all the things and now we only have most of the things and that is discrimination against us because other people are allowed a few things."

You want boys to do a thing girls do, whether it's reading books or washing their butts, you gotta stop teaching them that things can be "for girls," and therefore inferior/for inferior people.

Nothing else will work—except of course pushing women and girls out.

THIS.

People educated enough in the specific subject to pull the data together don’t need LLMs; people without the knowledge to weed data from the bullshit are at the mercy of the LLM.

They’re obsequious Dunning-Kruger machines. Designed to flatter midwits and the technologically obsolete.
So, ok, a thing about telling yr audience "i use AI for my info gathering/research but then I look over it and fix any errors" is that you unfortunately told me youve outsourced your knowledge base on this subject to the machine, and therefore I have no reason to believe you CAN catch those errors

It’s worth working through the thread for the argument and analysis. I’ve got How to Kill a Language on my TBR list.
The arguments against language reclamation haven't changed much in the nearly 20 years I've been working in this field:

"It costs too much."

"People are choosing to abandon their languages, so let them."

"They have no practical use."

"It's just sentimental nostalgia."

Fuck All That, a thread:
Sometimes It’s O.K. to Let a Language Die
When cultural preservation comes at the expense of speakers’ decisions, sometimes it's O.K. to let a language die.

I think this quote really demonstrates for me something that is quite weird and hard about watching reactions to sector redundancies while precarious - because I am expected to do exactly this next year. And no one seems to find it a problem.

Suno and rivals are being sued for $150k per song. A sum that would bankrupt these companies and set an important precedent.

Fuck off. Block.

You don't use the plagiarism engine of fascism for anything and frankly, any writer who uses it isn't a writer and just a disappointment.

This. All of this. It is so exhausting to be continually reminded, even in things we do for enjoyment, that being a woman means we just don't fucking matter.
“There is a direct line, though not all can see it, from this kind of “Har Har, girls are the worst!” to misogyny in the workplace, violence against women, and the lack of equality for women and girls around the world.”
