Climate tech and all it encompasses. Fan of the Chicago Red Stars and the USWNT, getting increasingly into tennis. Walkable cities and public transit are my true loves
"I get excited with projects, and Chicago will very much be a project," Andonovski told ESPN.

At least he knows what he’s signing up for.
EXCLUSIVE: Vlatko Andonovski is the new Chief Soccer Officer of the Chicago Stars.

The ex- #USWNT coach will oversee the entire technical department. Why Chicago? And how did the last-place #NWSL team secure him after his recent exit from Kansas City? Details on @espn.com 👇

When we first started dating, @faineg.bsky.social once sat up, looked into a dark corner of the room and said “it’s in the room with us”, and laid back down, never having awoken.

I, on the other hand, did not sleep after that
My husband has NEVER talked in his sleep, a streak he recently chose to break by loudly whispering, “There’s someone at the window.”

It really annoys me when people defending car dependency try to minimize the importance of mobility for children. Kids both want and deserve the freedom to move around their communities and they should be able to do so safely.

Every fraction of temperature rise we avoid saves lives, reduces disease, food and water shortages, disasters.

The wars have brought a renewed focus on energy security and protectionism, which has often been translated into more support for US oil & gas as clean-tech supply chains are dependent on China. Recent energy policy in the US is sometimes in conflict with the goal of lowering prices

first time at a mets game, and the marketing/branding materials are very much referencing the MTA so maybe I do like baseball

Train stations are far too hot, so yay plan to help! The seasonal storage of that heat is interesting as that's not a common technology. The nearby municipal buildings are likely on ConEd's steam system, so this may help reduce costs but with limited decarbonization impacts.
Nothing is worse on a hot summer day than waiting for the train on an even hotter subway platform.

Now, the city is looking to do something about it: gothamist.visitlink.me/AzL05T

It will only be too late to address climate change when we are dead and buried.

"Do not be daunted by the enormity of the World's grief. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it."
Increasingly seeing "it's too late, we failed" as an argument against climate action. But: a) While we haven't done nearly enough, we've made a lot of progress relative to the "just let fossil fuels rip" world of pre-2000; b) the more&faster we reduce climate pollution, the less bad things will get;

Cosmic Crisp has solved most of the problems of the honeycrisp.
a perfect pink lady is the best apple you will ever eat, but a perfect pink lady is rare, and a bad pink lady is not good, so for practical purposes honeycrisps, with their narrower range of quality and higher median, are superior
