Consider this: Democrats who win while saying things like "biological males" will take that as an endorsement of those views. The pressure to shift left and ensure equal rights for trans people comes before a vote, not after.

Counterargument: Trans people can help this time end by being pragmatic and voting for the party that can still be swayed and held to account on these issues rather than the party of fascists who are actively acting upon the anti-trans positions and rhetoric, regardless of what "Democrats" say.
This point, from my recent interview with @perrybaconjr.bsky.social for TNR, is so crucial. Trans people are desperate for relief from the relentless Republican attacks impacting all of us.
When Democrats move right, they signal relief may not be coming, and that engenders a lot of despair.
