No need to explain the meaning of words if you say they just mean what you happen to want them to mean at any given gesorgenplatt

If you want transport infrastructure suitable for the second half of the twenty first century before the second half of the twenty second you need to do things that are « hard and expensive » and start finding the money and the political will now.

« You » is generic here, not just aimed at England.

That fare increase could have been avoided without affecting that bottom line gain if just 6.7% of the excise rebate for drivers had been reallocated to public transport fares.

Short term thinking from a #CarBrain government.

Increased public transport fares take money out of workers’ pockets. You are prioritising drivers, not « workers », with many of your policies.

Not convinced it compensates for the social awkwardness of being spotted wearing pervert glasses.

I’m not holding my breath: the NI government is too dysfunctional and while we had some political will with @greenparty.ie in government normal car-brained FF/FG service has been resumed in the last year.

I assume you’re aware of the all-island rail review in Ireland which has made some limited proposals for reopening a couple of links?

If that horrible contraction gets into regular use you should be excluded forever.

You will be welcomed as an applicant state: that’s a clear message to anti-EU campaigners elsewhere that the grass is not greener on the other side of the single market fence.

There’s much less incentive to actually complete the negotiation though.

Have you tried the Interrail planner ? I get Prague 0324 on Sunday morning, change Dresden, Frankfurt, Strasbourg and Valence for an arrival at 2213. Or were you trying to avoid TGVs or bring the bike?

I don’t think I’d be in any condition to work on Monday mind!

I’ve never heard anyone else suggest it so maybe it’s just me but I always thought the alien was modelled on Margaret Thatcher, which accounts for the scariness.

Not as scary as the original, obviously.

(Shamelessly using the opportunity to show off my weekend baking)

I'm surprised that the obsession with sourdough and food provenance hasn't caused much of any rise in Irish heritage grains. This fine loaf has ~30% native Olands flour, grown and milled in Kilkenny. kellswholemeal.ie/product/nati...
