In cuter news, I woke up with Dahlia snuggled up next to me and she was hogging the blanket. I wish I’d taken a picture of this, but she was also cat-grumbling whenever I moved.

Anyone else in the habit of revealing way too much when asked questions by a person who needs to ask pre-procedure questions or is this a me thing (because I spend too much time alone)? Mouth, why you faster than brain?

I am a bitter, cynical, miserable person like 10 months of the year UNTIL it is time to find out about what kind of bullshit Hallmark is putting out for holiday movies and then I am even MORE FUCKING DELIGHTED to have my cruel, cynical heart delighted with trite, uplifting, empty garbage!!! Yay!

Controversial take: live-action Cowboy Bebop was not bad and didn’t deserve the critical beating it took from nerds. Did I watch a different show? Jet trying to get a real specific doll for his kid and running into all kinds of bullshit seemed spot on for the anime. I really enjoyed that episode.

There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”
“A single-payer universal health care system could cover every American, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1 trillion less than the system it would replace, according to a new preprint study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health.”

Well, I hope Mike Rush won’t ever need help straightening out a screw-up with MA unemployment like I needed from his office. If so, he can do what I did and call a future former colleague like Rob Consalvo or Bill MacGregor because I KNOW THEY BOTH RETURN CALLS & E-MAILS. @persisyu.bsky.social
September 2, 2026 at 6:06 AM
Oh, sweet grudge! Mike Rush was defeated by Persis Yu! I have never forgiven his office for ignoring my phone calls/e-mails when I had trouble with unemployment during COVID, ignored after MA animal lobby, & I’m not alone. Ignore Boston voters at your peril, my dude. Good luck with MA unemployment.

We need to bring back the hatchback. The people don't want sedans. They don't want stationwagons. They don't want SUVs and crossovers. They want indestructible sporty little hatchbacks with carrying capacity that feels like a bag of holding.

A friend yesterday: “I have embraced communism.” Me: “Do let me know what your research has shown you about how that has worked out for the people living in communist states economically, politically, and socially, because I will testify under oath that MY FAMILY WAS MURDERED FOR THEIR FARMLAND.”

When my dad died, we requested that the army show up to do the bugle playing and present the flag to my mom and such because by Jove, he was entitled to it for his service making home fries & driving a tank into a house in West Germany so the world could be safe for democracy, etc. Point incoming…

Also, today doesn’t feel like Friday. It feels like some kind of temporal otherday, like it’s Luudesday or some kind of weird disassociative kind of thing that you’re not sure really exists oh my god I have a personality disorder don’t I?

I’m very annoyed that I’m poor today because I want to own things that work and do things well, but I only have money for things that work poorly or do a couple of the things I want them to do or are very used and come with free scabies.

@consumerreports.org Hey! Doing my due diligence for tax-free weekend, discovered the LG compact washing machine rec’d by CR/was gonna buy, WM1455HWA, is subject to the same rust issues as seen in a class-action lawsuit settled recently-ish for washing machines purchased 20 years ago. Pls advise?

Maybe irritation does help me achieve my dreams because I decided to sketch out a little capsule wardrobe of four-season separates to sew for fun. I need to make a list of actual sewing goals.
