Uplifts in Tangent Space come from pre-sapient animals. The first success was dogs becoming the Canan species. They are like the elder sibling to all the other Uplifts that come after.

Base Damage + Potency = Total
Base Damage is a fixed value based on the attack, and applied on any hit.
Potency is a multiplier of how much you beat the target number by, usually an opposed defensive reaction roll.

I added a new lore entry to the first chapter of the book! This one gives an overview of the Solar Commonwealth, the primary civilization of Tangent Space.

Finally felt like drawing again! This is one of the limited species in the game, the Kallon.
Limited species are part of an uplift project to help them overcome filter events. They don't have a significant presence in space yet, but individuals can be encountered.

It's not just for combat either. Each vocation is given a very strong trait to maximize its flavor right from the very first game session. Some vocations thrive outside of battle.
Have a look at the traits for the Diplomat and the Engineer for great examples of this.

One thing I really like about Tangent Space is that you don't have to wait to get playstyle defining features for your character.
Take the traits for the Soldier and Ascetic for example. Powerful passives like these are usually a capstone, but here it's baked in from the start.
