Progressive because I think government should work to improve people's lives. Independent because blind allegiance to any party is toxic. I'll happily support candidates with a good policy record regardless of party or lack of same.

Commitments I'm looking for from candidates:

✅️Prosecute ICE from top to bottom
✅️Expanded Medicare for All

And , obviously , for Russia to pay .
For everything .

Here's how we get Medicare for All done:

Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!)
Include vision, dental, and hearing.
Begin extending to more people, starting with children.

We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.

You’re going to have to come together to elect progressives and tax the billionaires.

My entire life I've heard centrists scolding leftist candidates with "oh, but how will we pay for all that? isn't your agenda unreasonable? shouldn't we run on a modest proposal for means-tested tax rebates?"

Then Mamdani gets elected and makes it all look pretty easy. No wonder they hate him.

There is probably no idea deader than the idea that integrating evil autocratic regimes into our trade networks would give them an economic incentive sufficient to convince them to be nicer. Turns out they'll take the dough and just keep on being assholes.

Tax the rich. Make corporations pay their fair share. Invest in working people.

That's how a real economy runs.

Everything else they've sold you is a scam.

There have always been humans who thought:

1) The world will end soon
2) It will happen in a cool, exciting way
3) It’ll happen to me personally
4) I’ll be a martyred prophet, or a warlord, or otherwise special
5) People who don’t see this are lesser

“Sexy apocalypse” is a great phrase for that
Certain kinds of smart people tend to have a "sexy apocalypse" problem when it comes to thinking about risk. E.g. skynet turning everyone in paperclips, while bad, is also *kind of cool and fun* at the same time. Where the reality is that most actual disasters are both stupid and disappointing.

Trump has not once called on Putin to stop bombing civilian population centers, which he targets daily. Witkoff & Kushner never said that to Putin. We cut off Patriots to Ukraine for air defense. But now he demands Ukraine stop bombing refineries while Russia murders civilians.

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

Israel is a terrorist state actively practicing ethnic cleansing and indiscriminate murder of civilians. Unfortunately, the US continues to fund them, and many democracies continue to trade with them. They should be a pariah state, shunned and isolated by the civilized world.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 93%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 34%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.
