The drum scan was much easier to work with -- but a lot more expensive!

I exposed for the detail in the upper-right window. This negative would be hard to print in a wet darkroom, way too much contrast.

Wildflowers to me, hazard to motorists to the Highway Dept -- mowed the next day. Town of Ulysses, Finger Lakes, upstate NY, 2026-08-23 7pm Contax IIa | GP3 Pan 400 (expired 2024) | 1/100 at f/8 | HC-110 1+31 6:30 at 20C | m43 scan, grain2pixel | traditional post in LR/PS This is probably the grainiest film I've ever shot. Expired? Developer? I dunno. I had a very difficult time getting this film clean after development; finally soaked it in PhotoFlo overnight. I only shot half the roll because of a scare with the Contax: if I don't press down hard on the winding knob while advancing, the film counter goes crazy. Of course, no way to tell if the film was also advancing crazily, so I opened the back in the dark bag, cut the film, and then (because of the independent takeup spool on the Contax) easily transferred to a spool. (A bag sized for 8x10 is really nice for anything smaller.) The frames were spaced perfectly, so just need to wind carefully. It's an old camera! The other shots on the roll have a very old-timey feel; I have prints from 120 years ago of farmers at our barn, and somehow the curves match. But too much grain for me.
