Her community has been seeking answers as Christopher Leahy, the man charged with her murder in the first degree, has been found incompetent to stand trial, with his next competency hearing scheduled for September 24.

In my opinion Democrats get nothing nothing NOTHING by betraying trans people. They hurt themselves with a good deal of their committed voter base, and still don’t get the Republican votes they are so fucking obsessed with winning over. Lose-lose!

There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”

As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, I want to highlight a memorial not far from my home. 4 days after 9/11, a racist shot and killed Balbir Singh Sodhi, a husband, father of five, and beloved member of his local Sikh community. His murder was the first hate crime in response to the attacks.
