I still have a podcast... it's just dormant. On it, I talk with various people about how we make and live out a spirituality of being human, the idea that the way we live our beliefs should make us better neighbors, better humans.

I wanna start putting out episodes again. Who should I have on

Apparently, I have feelings about the cross and the crucifixion.

Deep feelings.

I first wrote this a few years back. Today, I polished it up a bit, corrected some grammar, and decided to share it again.

If the cross isn't trauma-informed, it's just going to keep perpetuating the cycles of trauma.

When I say I was raised in the seeds of Christian nationalism, this is what I mean. Propaganda shaped by developmental years.

This is why I write what I do at theclutteredmouth.com. We have to de-brainwash ourselves. That's easier to do with help.

It's hard not to feel like I'm making up my writing skill when no other poet or essayist or writer really has invested confidence in me. I don't know if anyone is in my corner. I don't know if anyone is rooting for me. I'd love for an experienced writer/editor to tell me I'm a halfway decent writer.

I'm currently looking for a second job. It's really discouraging. But I'm still at it. In the mean time, digging out of this debt is super important, and being able to pay rent next month. Please help us stay afloat while I get more employment.

Things I was frightened of as a child:

-public school
-the rapture (especially before I had sex/got married)
-hell
-the antichrist (or the caricature of them xians had)
-dying
-losing my salvation

Sensing a theme here? And people wonder why I give such a damn about theology now.
Things I was frightened of as a child:

- the blue-eyed child from the tv show “Sky”
- demons
- the end times & the antichrist
- that my parents would die (it sucks as bad as I feared)
- being bullied at school
Things I was frightened of as a child:
* Ghost nuns,
* The werewolf mask made from a paper grocery bag pictured in the back of a monster art and craft book I was gifted at aged 4,
* Every possible bad thing at bedtime.
