I was moderating what was billed as a horror panel at a con once, but it turned out half the authors wrote paranormal romance & the organizers had been confused. So I pivoted to making it a panel about passion-driven genres and engaging readers emotionally.

#AutChat A5: Not really. I try to find opportunities, but I just have so many more pressing things on my time. Taking non-English language Bibles to church for the sermon, and having social media interfaces not translate certain languages for me, is the bulk of my actual engagement right now.

But you know what else is super helpful? Kids' shows! If the target language has children's programming, watch some shows aimed at toddlers. They're actively teaching the language.

#AutChat A3: I actually find most of it fairly easy. I don't know how much autism contributes to it, but I catch on fairly well. The hardest ones for me are actually the ones that look too much like English; I get them confused too often. But I've been told I have a brain for it, in general.

I asked my wife some years ago how anyone confirms a masked famous person, and ended up going, "But if I showed up at the VMAs looking like Daft Punk, how would they know?" And she was like, "Please don't test that" instead of offering any suggestions.

i will EXPAND on this with some inside baseball because buckaroos seem to be kind of interested: recently we have talked about setting up a stricter conformation method, because i would hate for someone to show up somewhere and say I AM CHUCK and then cause trouble. but way we do it now is...
there have actually been multiple times when someone has come up and said 'INCREDIBLE CHUCK TINGLE COSPLAY can i get a photo?' and then i say 'i am chuck tingle' and they say 'SURE you are' and they dont figure it out until later when they post online. happens about once or twice per convention now

I understand people wanting to reference religion when talking about the mindset around AI—and doing so is very often fitting and appropriate—but it would be nice if just one of the people trying to reference Calvinism knew anything accurate about Calvinism.
