“Stop Making Sense” turns 42 today.

Of his performance, David Byrne said: “You see this person in the beginning [of the film] who's kind of angsty, stumbling around .. And then, by the end, he's surrendered to the music and is fairly joyful .. He’s found a kind of community." 🙏🏼

AI is certainly making all of this much worse, but every scientist you know, or at least all the physicists, astronomers, mathematicians, and climate scientists, gets tons of emails from men, especially engineers, who think they are Einstein. It’s sad and complicated and messy.

So many questions. First: How did they get the impact force? I get an acceleration of F/m = 1372 m/s^2 which would give a deceleration time of t = v/a = 16.6 m/s /1372 m/s^2 = 0.012 seconds. Not sure how fast dino vomit would slow down. LOL. 🎢 🦕

This is exciting!

Katie Mack's first book is one of the best science books I've read in a while. Fun to read, very engaging, really interesting.

I'm looking forward to the new book.
Story time!

Six years ago, my first book, The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking), came out. It was fun to write! I got to share all my cosmology fun facts and dig deep into all the ways the universe might end. I had SO much fun with it, I thought, "maybe I should write another book?"

Horrible new bullshit from the sea every time. It’s never ‘oh we found a new pink fish that is so happy’ it’s always stuff like this, the crush-depth screw-headed dongwongler, and it’s got to have big long creepy bits. Sick of the ocean tbh.

We're constantly told that women can never compete with men and yet Kelsey Pfendler is about to set the record for the fastest solo row from California to Hawaii, beating the men's record by a full week.

What an incredible feat of athleticism, endurance, and grit.

Trump's insight that being openly corrupt makes him immune to the conventions of "political scandals" is perhaps the greatest example of his peculiar political genius.
Trump: "This building was built for peace. Nobody knew what to name it, and then Marco named it after me. I had nothing to do with it. I swear. They said, 'There's a surprise coming.' I thought they were gonna give me a lot of money or something. Maybe cash. Can always use some extra cash."
