Part of reading is also being able to use context & know what’s being said without the usage of words. I should be able to say “you should go for a walk today” & you should be able to know I’m only speaking to people who clearly can do so. If you need everything spelled out, you can’t read.

So, I just finished reading Stoner by John Williams and it made me realize how much my taste in books has changed over the years. I think my teenager-self wouldn't have stomached this novel but my (barely) older butt couldn't put it down
