I’ve seen tons of coverage of the song and its chart run, but like 98% of current pop music, I haven’t heard it because I spend my listening time in podcasts, Audible, and Apple Music (which understands I want songs from when I was in my 20s and 30s … with the occasional Charli XCX tune thrown in).

I did this during my first midlife crisis (at 40). It was me and a bunch of 17-23 year olds for a year. It was a blast, despite my classmates nicknaming me “Old Man Tim.” Now (at 50 next month) I’ve been puppet making which isn’t as exciting, but is easier on the body.

At one of many Prince shows (or O(+> shows) at Paisley Park in 1998, he played a 45 minute jam called The War. A few weeks later a cassingle (a radio friendly 25ish minutes) showed up in my mailbox. #PrinceMagic
