I see your point and the concern you raised strikes me a legitimate in general. All great reasons for an informed and engaged citizenry to keep elected officials from doing bad things. Or at least call the out and vote them
Out when they do.

I expect that what you are saying may happen in some jurisdictions, but I’ll be very surprised if it happens in Arlington.

Are you from Arlington? I am and I seriously doubt this is a “feint” as you call it. Do you have some reason to think this is a “feint” other than a general feeling that all local elected officials actually want this type of surveillance?

I hear you. But like a lot of other non-DSA Dems, I think the party needs new blood and new leadership. More fight, less sucking on corporate teats. Schumers daughters work (or worked) for big tech. Gillibrands son backed by crypto money. If that qualifies as attacking Dems, then I’m guilty.

No I don’t.

The fact that you think this would only make DSA heads explode (and the way you take delight in that) shows how out of touch this account is with so many grass root dems.

Like I said, what I would find helpful is a rational plan to get from where we are today to a society where all people who want housing get it. A sudden rent and eviction freeze in the absence of a systemic policy approach does not qualify in my opinion.

I agree that people deserve housing. I don’t agree that all landlords are parasites. What I would find helpful is a rational plan to get from where we are today to a society where all people who want housing get it. Not clear to me that rent and eviction freeze gets us there.

I’m not convinced National rent freeze moratorium on evictions is good policy. Can anyone send me a link to a rational explanation of why this is good policy?
