As a reminder, executive orders—while noteworthy and significant—are basically advisory memos from the White House, as the president does not have the legal or constitutional authority to issue edicts with the force of law
This new White House executive order says that the US Attorney General is going to prevent states from implementing democratically passed laws regarding climate change and clean energy. It scarcely needs stating at this point that this is wildly, unambiguously unconstitutional. Dictator shit.
Protecting American Energy From State Overreach
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1.  Purpose.

Iowa might lower fines for businesses that violate child labor laws.

The state has already rolled back child labor protections, and now state Republicans want to shrink the max fine for companies that overwork kids from $10,000 to $2,500.

Iowa may lower fines for businesses violating child labor laws limiting hours kids work
Businesses that violate Iowa child labor laws by having minors work longer hours would face reduced fines under a proposed rule change.

The US has voted against human rights and international law.

It passed HR 23 the “Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act”, a bill to sanction ICC leadership, to protect Israeli Netanyahu from the consequences of his war crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, and elsewhere.

My brother has been a wildfire fighter for 10+ years. His top safety advice to me has always been to be the first one on the road. It's doubly true with 0% containment and LA traffic. If you're thinking of evacuating, and your gut is telling you that you'll need to, don't wait for the order. Leave.

My insurance: Do you, though?

Speaking of shut the fuck up Friday, I’ve been seeing some people say that the FBI has contacted them for questioning after seeing social media posts, and my extremely urgent advice is that you should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES talk to the Feds without a lawyer.

I went to pick up meds for my daughter's migraines. Insurance has decided not to cover it this month for god knows why. $180 for 9 pills. The pharmacist says "one sec, let me try to apply coupons," *clickety clack,* then he says, "okay, now it's $16."
Nothing about our healthcare system makes sense.
