They thought I was a princess, but I was always born to be a witch
Writer, storyteller, traveler
When I was a child, I was taught that the world was going to end.

Now, it feels like it actually is, but for very different reasons that what I was taught in my Mormon upbringing.

The world is ending. And I just woke up.

Maybe you did too.

The thing about religion is that everyone was a kid once.
And kids will believe anything;)
For a while, anyway.

I’ve heard so many philosophies of why the world is broken, Prison planet, demi-urge.
But the thing that makes most sense to me so far is biology.
The men of the people decided that they were more important. And they created a god in the sandbox to show that.

remember stuff like this when they tell you that diversity means a lowering of standards
robert f. kennedy jr. submits his application to harvard university. his application is, in its entirety, a single page with his name "Robert F. Kennedy Jr."

he is accepted immediately.

I write because I need to know
What I think
Years of indoctrination
Taught me I already knew
Everything important

And now that I no longer
Believe that,
I must find whatever brain cells
That are left.

And bring them back to me

Did you have parents who believed they knew you better than you know yourself?

But you hid so much of yourself as you saw them not accepting you?

You ever think, “all your genetics run through me. I understand YOU better, even as I don’t want to.”

It’s backwards, darling, like most real things.

Stories teach empathy.

All those hours watching anime, reading fanfiction, playing DnD. We are learning through the thing our parents mocked.

I came to feminism late.
But now that I’m here-
I’m never going back

I was led to believe if I lived in a dystopia, I would be a teenager, and have two heartthrobs fighting over me.

I feel cheated.

They raised us to be fighters.
They raised us to believe the apocalypse would come
They raised us to believe we’d be attacked.
And now they we’ve left them,
And found our souls in our chests,
They weren’t wrong.
They just mistook the side.
Because I do best in the burning.
And maybe you do too.

When you leave a high-demand religion, you feel crippled. Nothing feels real. Everything you used to believe is a lie. You sort of feel like a 17-year-old in a dystopia novel who is supposed to save a broken world, because nothing is what you were told it was.

We have created an artificial society. And we know it. We know it through the extraordinary lengths we undergo to survive it.

We were not meant to be tools for capitalism throughout our entire adult lives.
