Star Trek is about the only thing keeping me sane at this point.
There comes a point in some games where you realize your opponent knows their only option is to Shoot the Moon.

This is probably my favorite election memory and I cannot fathom that any President who genuinely cared about election security would not reinvite OSCE observers. All they do is write a report about their observations and make suggestions. Hardly anyone but election nerds will read it.

I had to attend to another voter and pointed the OSCE observers to our Keurig coffee machine and other refreshments. I told them I welcomed their work and they could stick around as long as they liked and ask whatever questions they had of us. Probably twenty minutes later they thanked me and left.

I explained that aside from helping to find poll workers and sending their own powerless observers the parties have no actual involvement during the election. Apparently the Swedish system is different and I clarified that other states might due things a bit differently from Virginia.

After I verified their information they asked me several questions about a voter I helped with a provisional ballot and other general election procedures. They seemed particularly interested in what powers the political parties themselves had during elections.

It’s striking that we’ve treated political leaders on right as principled opposition with just a different view of how things ought to be.

When what these people really are—and have always been—is a gang of power-hungry fascists who care nothing about anything except power.

While trying to turn around I got my car stuck off the edge of a random driveway with the backend blocking part of the road. As I'm waving traffic around my car the homeowner calls AAA and tells them her nephew needs a tow.

I had been given detailed directions to go visit my grandmother and had made a critical wrong turn out of town during the first major snow storm of the season. I tried to turn around on the rural road and end up in a ditch. The one other motorist on the road turns back to me and pulls me out.
