I forget that people will often dismiss this subgenre as "not video games" albeit by definition it is interactive media, and like you said video games can be whatever a creator wants.

I mean in all fairness the guy was asking an earnest question, I gave an earnest answer. If it came off as blunt dismissive I apologize as that wasn't my intent (social interaction over text lacks tone please forgive me haha).

I mean this respectfully, there are all kinds of people who enjoy all kinds of games. Some enjoy games where there is a feeling of risk, some enjoy games for a story and experiencing the visuals.
Call it a red flag if you want, but this medium is vast and people are here for different reasons.

It is more of a movie that asks you to press buttons from time to time similar to a David Cage or Telltale game than something like Mario. I have seen people say you can put the controller down in most cases and the game will play itself or not let you have a fail state. Great if you enjoy that.

I think it's a step in the right direction but my adrenaline pumps much higher because its a long time investment into a single life. Never been the biggest fan of the genre, and this helps, but it makes it easier to go in with friends who play more than me.

I think it's a step in the right direction but my adrenaline pumps much higher because its a long time investment into a single life. Never been the biggest fan of the genre, and this helps, but it makes it easier to go in with friends who play more than me.

From a designer and gamer standpoint, if they gave me meaningful PVE content, or introduced a lower stress arena shooter style mode (death match, modes from classic Marathon), I would play a lot more often.
The core game is so high stress I can do maybe 2 or 3 runs before I'm actually exhausted lol

I'm thankful it seems like Sony sees some promise in Marathon enough to keep the lights on at Bungie for now and try to turn around some parts of the game. It would be horrible to see 1000 more people lose their jobs over this

There is a very striking amount of folks that actually dont care or think they can just fit a higher position or some mystical option they think that they have. I am always baffled by it. I'm thankful a lot of game mechanics are complex enough that most AI code tools mess up too much to be useful.
