Supporting a nuclear strike on DC home rule … to battle a 20 cent fee that will raise money to help feed poor families in low-income communities. Please. Just do it. Cancel your DoorDash.

GUIDE: Welcome to the Great American State Fair!
TOURIST: Incredible! And which state are we in right now?
GUIDE: (violently shaking their head) Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Saw someone respond to the idea of DC statehood with “so should every major city be its own state?” and yeah don’t threaten me with a good time.

Class in the US is entirely a matter of aesthetics now. Rich suburban kids are “country”. Beard Dudes who look like they love IPAs are “working class.” Teachers who make $32,000 a year but have to dress up sort of nice in JCPenney clothes are “elites“. None of these words mean anything anymore.
What is it about oyster farming in the American imagination that makes a privately educated small businessman “working class”?

This is a reminder to step away from the news if you haven’t taken a break in a bit. Maybe look at the sky or a tree or a bird

semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

when you are asked to imagine a world without ICE, you're basically being asked to remember where you were when Lilo & Stitch came out

ICE has only existed since 2003. A Bush-era creation, it is a militarized federal secret police that has been imbued with the Supreme Court with the unconstitutional power to ignore the fourth amendment.

Abolishing it and salting the earth where it grew is the moderate stance.
