Like, a church-going southern small business owner in a full outfit of Costa gear, described himself as a lifelong Republican but is appalled by the party, thinks Zohran seems great, hates antivaxxers. It’s a lot more rewarding to just talk to people than to theorize them online from a distance.

I spent most of yesterday in a hotel pool talking to a really lovely 65-year-old contractor from Nashville who struck up a convo with me because I had a Georgia hat on and he wanted to talk football, and his politics would have given the average reactionary Twitter centrist a brain bleed

Alito is not the only Republican justice who has embraced this disturbing rhetoric in recent years. It is instructive to break down what they are saying: we shouldn't count all the votes, because some segment of the electorate would become angry that their preferred candidate didn't win.
i'm not over Alito saying we shouldn't count ballots that are mailed on or before Election Day but arrive shortly afterwards bc they can “radically flip” the “apparent outcome”

cannot stress enough that, until all ballots are counted, there's no outcome to flip!

His conduct in several recent cases suggests that Alito is deep in the right-wing conspiracy theory weeds.

RFK Jr. wants people to get sick. He wants them to get sick and he thinks it is a good thing if they die, since those who live will have "natural immunity" and emerge stronger and fitter.
“On Thursday, Mr. Gorton said that “the success of the polio vaccine was a massive medical fraud” and that widespread vaccination was a “public health disaster.” He received a standing ovation…

Mr. Kennedy spoke next, linking arms with the group even as measles cases continue to rise”

During Operation Metro Surge, clergy were so welcoming to organizations and communities whose members were under siege by the administration. No matter your membership in the congregation, there was a shared belief that what was happening was wrong and that there was a moral duty to act.

85% of our potash comes from canada.

My favorite factoid about how important potash is to agriculture in the US is that the first patent granted in this country, in 1790, was for "a novel method for the production of potash."

What is that? That's a hard-coded API token that Flock cameras use to identify themselves and get OAuth credentials, which can then be used to talk to Flock's production servers. Like, anyone on the internet can probably do this right now.

It's genuinely fascinating that the US president keeps announcing that he just flat out doesn't know what trade is, he legit doesn't appreciate the concept of exchange and instead views economic activity through the lens of a dragon attempting to maximise its gold hoard to sit upon.
Well, that took longer than I thought, but he hath spoken:
