I once DNFed a book where the author described Rockford, Illinois as south of Chicago multiple times. (Rockford is about 90 miles north west.) Since I've wondered what the other reasons people have DNFed a book.

I may have found (for $15) a first edition copy of Stephen King's The Eyes of the Dragon. It's a vastly underrated fantasy novel that is criminally ignored among his oeuvre..

YES! Just discovered Becky Chambers is releasing a new novel in October! From the synopsis it sounds like an intriguing found-family story. Today IS a good day to be alive, Worf.

I've been hunting for a good sudoku app for my iPad that doesn't have endless ads after ads or want a monthly payment. Does such a unicorn exist, Apple?

Happy Pride, even if you're like me and, to avoid the awful crowds, stay home and celebrate alone.

Started the series Widows Bay (on AppleTV) earlier this afternoon... Can't stop watching. Halfway in and holy cow this is good. (First episode is really slow, give it a couple episodes to pick up.)

Watching the TikToks of Scotland's Tartan Invasion in Boston (for the World Cup) have brought me great joy. All of their silliness is inspiring and damn, those guys can wear a kilt. Rest of the world: take notice, learn, and be more like them.

Today I had a guest show me a photo of a book she wanted to buy. It's not available in store; I suggested she order it online. "I don't buy anything online!" She snapped rudely, before hustling away. Me: not telling her receding back the book isn't going to be released until late September.

I feel like who ever created this read Starter Villain by @scalzi.com and wanted a prequel.

Taco Bell just tried to charge my card 74 times. I mean, I love Taco Bell but.... Man alive, no wonder the bank shut that down so fast.

Wonder how many people automatically respond to "May the Fourth!" with "Be with you." I heard it twice today. 😜 Once I actually started humming the theme.

Finally met my sister's year old golden retriever puppy. Never have I ever met a more hyperactive dog. Ever. Cute AF, but golly.

I had successfully blocked all the trauma related memories from this … until my sister sent me this.

Ever read a book you want to like and struggle to put it down? I just finished one. I did not enjoy reading this, as brilliant as it is. It's dark, and violent, and incredibly graphic about how humanity is and always will be people's worst monsters.

Really happy to hear that Michael B Jordan won best actor for his dual role as twins in Sinners. That was an amazing film, and y'all should see it.

Hulu cancelled the planned Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival. Bummer, but sometimes it's okay to let things stay dead.

Tonight, I watched the Star Trek TNG episode Lower Decks. I've watched it only once before, when it first aired, which happened to be the same day my mother passed.

I dunno why I'm sharing this. Feelings are weird.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
