Alleged geographer at the ⋂ of cities, technology, and climate adaptation. A reluctant polygon enthusiast, I occasionally work on computational geometry and spatial data algorithms, which I promise almost never to discuss.
Ah, the Emily St John Mandel.Hello model.

Jack Aubrey was so good at conic sections

Yeah it has been amazing – it has been really good at finding edge cases in geo (which already had excellent coverage, and like two decades of JTS tests that were ported over).

It’s in Kent, on the south coast, next to Dungeness. Derek Jarman’s rad black-painted cottage is there. It is a super weird-feeling place (in a good way).

Suspect I will be using this a great deal.

Hegel is the new multi-language property-based testing tool from the authors of Hypothesis (mainly David MacIver). docs.rs/hegeltest/la.... Hypothesis does shrinking extremely well (probably better than any other proptest library) and is generally very good.

Have you tried Hegel (and their skills)?

hyperpolitics is it bsky.app/profile/jack...
Turns out, the author just ... made them up 🤷‍♂️. I can't get over this. It really doesn't seem ok to me for someone to draw some squiggles, claim that they're illustrative of something in the real world, then act as though it's akin to evidence. The vibes you feel aren't data!

Of paramount importance (obtained in dried form, rehydrated – truly the labours of Hercules) for Rösti.

Nobody tell Professor Bender about this incredibly banal convention in cybernetic thought, lest an even larger Parrot is posited.

Oh I know I was just making a joke, the guy in the middle remains mysterious.

Oh that is lovely to hear.

Well exactly. At the very least, he’s hopefully found a substantial new audience. TEOE is prominently on display in the window of Hodges Figgis as we speak!

He simply has to win!

Depends on the context; you could soften it a bit with “could I request” which will work in Britain, but may be wasted nuance for North America.
