The inequality of wealth and income distribution in America has never been worse. Let’s talk about it.
The cost of living in the United States keeps getting worse over time, and with rent skyrocketing and the price of a new home doubling, it’s spiraled well beyond where it was even a generation ago. This is not your parent’s economy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxdo...

President Donald Trump pledged to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections. The promise, made at the GOP's midterm convention in Dallas, could cost over $1 trillion and would require congressional approval.

It has entered the mainstream in the way that very few dataviz have.

Ever wondered what the actual distribution of wealth in America looks like? Spoiler alert: the poorest Americans don’t even register on the chart’s scale and the wealthiest 1% stack so high, you’d need about eight more screens to fully visualize it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gxl...

Wealth concentration in the United States hasn’t been this bad since the Gilded Age of the 1920s. For reference, that was back when we were still using terms like “Ye Olde Robber Baron” to describe the ultra rich. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gxl...

Oh my gosh, the best political video on YouTube just got updated after a decade and a half and it's still just perfect!

It visualizes something that I've talked about a lot since the first video came out: The real problem is the billionaire class.

In 2010, two economists asked roughly 5,000 Americans how they thought wealth in America was distributed and what they thought the ideal distribution should be. Back then, Americans already knew the system was unfairly skewed. It’s even worse now, 16 years later. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gxl...

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.
