Woke is not a pejorative term. Lefty. Mostly films, games, books, music and things that make life better - subject to sudden bouts of self deprecating melancholia. https://boxd.it/uB1B
Fuck.

Took advantage of the heatwave to restart and finally finish 'Control'. At that pace I may finish the sequel in my, sobs, mid-fifties!

What a game though, it doesn't ever hold your hand, is punishingly tough at times (though crucially, never unfair) but always engaging and such a unique beast.

TMZ DC with perhaps the most brutal video from Trump's Great American State Fair, showing Dr. Oz on stage bragging to Dean Cain about how big the crowd is, only for the reporter to pan around and show absolutely nobody is there.

10 years on from #Brexit referendum, what can we learn? That top down, technocratic arguments didn’t work then & won’t work in any campaign to rejoin. It’s about picking a side - in an increasingly insecure world, with US ever more insular & unreliable, it’s clear our future lies with EU neighbours

My daughter will have seen 7 Prime Ministers in her first 11 years. In my first 11, there was 1! Okay, it was the Uber-cunt, but, wow, thank god we steadied the ship with #brexit.

Happy 10th for those who celebrate.

Been watching, and enjoying the shit out of 'Widows Bay'. It is, and I mean this as a huge compliment, a grown up version of Eerie, Indiana.

The recent adaptation of Lord of the Flies is flat out other-worldly, stunning and devastating. I was much closer to the protagonists age when I last read it but within minutes I was there again. Don't think I've ever seen something that evokes it's source material so effectively.

I had no idea Rob Grant had passed. I can't tell you how much, obviously, Red Dwarf the TV show meant to me, but also how many times I've read and re-read his books. An underrated master of the comedy novel.

Coincidentally, my wife had picked up my copy of 'Fat' to start reading the other day.

My Monday nights are absolute bliss. Sprog goes boxing for an hour, 6 doors up is a beaut of a pub, 17th century and cozy as fuck. It's busy enough to be atmospheric but not manic, has an open fire. Nobody hassles me for a whole hour, I sit, have a drink and read a book like the smugest cunt ever.

Wrote a quick thing about @taloketo.bsky.social and @king-spooner.bsky.social's Kickstarter hopeful Abide, which I can't stop thinking about.

This one really deserves to hit its modest £25k target on KS (and it's nearly 70% of the way there) - give it a chance!
Extreme Stop-Motion Horror Game ‘Abide’ Looks Absolutely Terrifying
Indie Kickstarter hopeful 'Abide' could offer one of the best horror gaming concepts in recent years, and certainly one of the most unsettling.
